HOW TO PLAN A WEDDING IN 2021

ONTARIO’S WEDDING & SPECIAL EVENT GUIDELINES

How do you plan a wedding, a special event, a momentous occasion or a simple dinner party in these tumultuous times? It’s when we’re feeling all these emotions that we want to lean on, and be around the people we love and care about the most… but is it safe to do so, and when?

Good Question.

Ontario has put together a safe re-opening act, that to the naked eye can be very overwhelming, exhausting and frustrating to try and navigate. I was there. This is just as crazy for us event professionals as it is for you non-industry folk.

BUT... we have done our best to extract, pull together, and lay out what we feel are the essentials; the Coles Notes / Layman’s terms for hosting an event in 2021.

THE WHO, WHAT, WHERE & HOW TO, OF PLANNING A WEDDING IN 2021…

Weddings in Ontario 2021 Covid Response Framework

Keep in mind that social distancing is still recommended and required, as are masks when inside and/or when distance is difficult to maintain.

A few other guidelines to keep in mind:

  • Alcohol Service: RED & ORANGE - between 9AM-9PM; YELLOW - between 9AM-11PM

  • Event Timing: RED & ORANGE - 10PM farewell; YELLOW - 12AM farewell

  • Dining Tables: RED & ORANGE - up to 4 people together (or household); YELLOW - up to 6 people together (or household)

  • Outdoor: If under a tent, only 2 walls can be erected

*A little disclaimer: rules and guidelines could change and it’s important that you have the most up-to-date information. We really don’t want to lead people astray if we don’t get to updating this blog post immediately. SO, do your research, talk to people, ask advice, and reach out to your planner/local MP/government official/vendors to make sure you’re up to speed on the “latest and greatest” do’s and don’ts.

YES, we too, are so excited for when all this red tape can be lifted and we can just CELEBRATE without taking into consideration A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H….. through to Z.

But for now (2021), and into the indefinite future, we recommend assuming these guidelines, with everyone’s safety and health at the forefront of your plans.

We have always preached the wholesome goodness of intimate elopement style weddings. Whether it’s your first choice, or a decision that you’re making because of this global upheaval, we strongly believe it’s going to become the best decision you ever made.

xoxo
